Victory- Worker Receives $20,000.00 And Free Hearing Aids For Work-Related Noise Induced Hearing Loss
Our client (X) recently received $20,000.00 as compensation and free hearing aids for hearing loss she suffered in the workplace.
Facts
X lodged a hearing loss claim against her last noisy employer Y.
Y rejected the claim because it believed:
· X did not suffer hearing loss during her employment with Y; and
· X did not lodge a claim in or around the time she ceased employment with Y (approximately 16 years ago).
We challenged Y’s decision by issuing proceedings in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).
Result
We negotiated a settlement prior to attending the AAT hearing and X walked away with $20,000.00 in her pocket and free hearing aids.
