Have you suffered hearing loss in the workplace?

You may be entitled to compensation and/or hearing aids if you have suffered work-related noise induced hearing loss.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do you/did you have to raise your voice to communicate at work?
  • Do you/did you have reduced hearing or ringing in your ears when you leave/left work?

If you answered yes to either question above, you may be able to lodge a hearing loss claim.

Types of jobs that may cause work-related noise induced hearing loss

Examples of jobs that may cause industrial hearing loss include:

  • Machine operator
  • Construction worker
  • Mechanic
  • Electrician
  • Truck driver
  • Bus driver
  • Forklift driver
  • Storeman
  • Seaman
  • Cleaner
  • Gardener
  • Security Guard

Please note that the above list is not exhaustive.

What are the steps involved?

We understand that lodging a hearing loss claim may seem daunting, however, we can help you from start to finish and make the process significantly easier and less stressful for you.

Step 1

The first step is to arrange a hearing test (which we can arrange free of charge for you).

The hearing test will show us whether or not and the degree to which you have suffered industrial hearing loss.

Step 2

The next step is to lodge a hearing loss claim for compensation and/or hearing aids (which we can prepare for you).

Step 3

You will then need to attend an Independent Impairment Assessment with an ENT.

Step 4

The Worksafe insurer, on behalf of the employer, will issue a Notice of Liability either accepting or rejecting liability.

We can review the Notice of Liability together with the ENT report and advise you of the outcome.

Time Limit

The law dictates that you need to lodge against your last noisy employer (current or previous).

There is no time limit in relation to lodging a hearing loss claim, however, you should consider lodging a claim as soon as you are aware that you may have suffered work-related noise induced hearing loss.
